Adult illiteracy has direct impact on various social problems like child labour, female infanticide, witchcraft etc., which are still prevalent in alarming rate in rural india. Did we succeed with our Adult Literacy Programmes?

The Govt of India have planned to initiate National Mission for Female Literacy with emphasis on minorities, Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes to be launched. Fifty per cent of all rural women to be brought into self-help group programmes. I think the both initiatives will help to increase of Adult Literacy in our India

the schools if extend their service to educate adults after the general school hours the accessibility of opportunity to learn tremendously increase for adult illiterates of society. thus schools could play an effective role for rapid social change. since each habitation is having at-least a school, strengthening and extending the services of schools will bring a positive social change.
