Helping people to serve better
I've been working as a Thagavalagam (Village Information Centre) operator in Sekipatti village, for the past four years. I have completed X Std. I have a passion for serving the people of my village and hence Iam working in this sector. I am interested in creating awareness about various issues among my people. But, how do I do, when I do not have supporting information in Tamil.
Dhan Foundation and the InDG team gave us training about the www.indg.in portal. I was thrilled to see the information in Tamil. After completion of the training, I used to bring people to my center and show them the web site. I also explained various important things that women and farmers should know.
Apart from using the information, I also learnt that we too can add content to the InDG portal. I started collecting local information on various topics and started uploading in the portal. On seeing the information provided by me in the portal, Iam motivated to contribute lot more.
During this year's Women's Day celebration, I was appreciated for my service. I am so happy about this.
