To control insect- pests in stored grain maintain humidity and temperature.
Because every insect required paricular temerature and humidity for increasing their population.By fumigation we can contoll them but during fumigation covering of particular lot is required

There are various means of controling storage pest. Using neem oil is one among them.
As a farmer I am beneifited by MOHAN'S TRAP DEVELOPED BY TNAU COIMBATORE to control storage pest. I made slight modification by making series of small holes using hot nail in the pet bottles in the cylindrical area and leaving the conical area of the plastic bottle as such. After closing the lid, I kept it immersed in the grain stock [the bottle should be kept upside down].The storage pest enters the bottle through the small holes for breathing air and get trapped and collected in the conical portion of the bottle. I could trap lots of storage pest and control the damage.

As a farmer I share my experience on this. The grain should be thourughly dried.Spraying the gunny bags in which the grains are stored with neem oil repels the storage pests. TNAU Coimbatore has devised a trap called Mohan Trap, to control storage pest. I made some modifications with the easily available empty plastic water bottle.I made series of tiny holes using hot nails in the cylindrical bottom portion of the bottle. No holes are made in the conical top portion of the bottle. After closing the bottle,it is kept in the grain stock upside down. The bottle should be immersed in the grain stock. The storage pests enter the bottle through the tiny holes insearch of air to breath, and get collected in the bottom of the bottle. While emptying the grain stock the trapped pests in the bottle may be removed.
